Kitchen ‘facelift’ Project
Kehelland, Cornwall
An extremely exciting and delightful project for us to work on. This kitchen needed a facelift and a new island. We started by replacing all the doors, drawer fronts, kick boards, pelmets, cornices… Everything but the carcases and granite worktop. The existing kitchen island was beyond repair and as the client wanted it bigger, we decided to build the island from scratch. The island’s Oak worktop was cut down the middle and used to sandwich one of the biggest strips of Modern Marquetry to date.
Modern Marquetry: A classic and soon to be world favourite - Cross grain Ash, reclaimed Oak & recycled CDs.
Materials: A mixture of solid Oak and Birch Plywood.
Finish: A mixture of hard-wearing lacquers and oils were used, allowing it to be wiped clean.
