Grand Designs Project

This piece was part of a Grand Designs project here in Cornwall. 

Description: The clients presented a loose brief, in which they wanted a colourful, moveable and curved room divider. In conversation, it was decided that books would be used to bring colour to a moveable structure, and additionally dampen sounds within the large open space.

This bespoke moveable book case was the response to the clients needs. Its components were cut by Apply Works, assembled and finished on site by  a team of three. Situating the boxes on the curved plinth was a fluid process that ensured the pieces structural stability and a pleasing aesthetic. Of note was the satisfaction experienced as moved easily over the concrete floor. 

Materials: 22mm / 18 mm Birch Ply. Heavy duty castors.  Books (provided by the clients)

Finish: Treatex hard wax oil finish.
